ISLE AU HAUT - Jackie E. MacDonald, 64, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Deer Isle. He was born in Stonington, April 9, 1936, the son of Charles and Edith (Sprague) MacDonald. Jack was a 1955 graduate of Stonington High School. He was a fisherman since 1953 and was first selectman for the town of Isle Au Haut for nine years, and was manager of the Isle Au Haut Lobsterman's Association for 17 years. Jack was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Isle Au Haut, a 42 year member of Marine Lodge No.122, A.F. & A.M. of Deer Isle, Acadia Chapter No.31, R.A.M. of Ellsworth, the Downeast Lobsterman's Association, the National Rifleman's Association, the Isle Au Haut Company, and was very active in the passing of the Acadia National Park Legislation with the town of Isle Au Haut. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Belvia (Weed) MacDonald; a son, Daniel L. and his wife, Susan A. MacDonald of Isle Au Haut; a daughter, Juanita M. and her husband, Sgt. Robert M. McFetridge of Boothbay Harbor; five granddaughters, Geneva E. and Victoria K. MacDonald, Amanda L., Brandie M. and Mikayla D. McFetridge. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church of Deer Isle, Church Street, Deer Isle where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Theodore Hoskins officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Sunshine. Gifts in memory of Jack may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
