Born in Rockland, June 24, 1939, he was the son of Charles and Hazel Sprague Firth. He was educated in Rockland schools and was a 1957 graduate of Rockland High School.
On August 23, 1958, he married Marchia J. Bickford in Camden. The couple made their home in Rockland several years, before moving to South Thomaston in 1980.
Mr. Firth had been employed 32 years at National Sea Products Rockland plant at the time of that facilities closing in the mid 1980s. He later worked several years as a custodian at Pen Bay Medical Center and for the past four years, was employed as a custodian with SAD 5 at Rockland District High School.
Some of Mr. Firth's hobbies included gardening, building and flying remote control airplanes, lawn sales and tinkering with cars. He particularly enjoyed the Christmas Holiday season with his grandchildren.
He attended Thomaston Assembly of God Church.
Other than his parents, Mr. Firth was pre-deceased by two brothers, Leroy and Charles, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of South Thomaston; two sons, Floyd F. Jr., and his companion Shakira of Bristol, Wayne J. and his wife Valerie of Jefferson; one daughter, Anita Payson and her husband Michael of Rockport; one sister, Shirley Ames of Rockland; two aunts, Alberta Buswell of Swans Island, Agnes Firth of Rockland; his mother-in-law Ernestine Bickford Davis and her husband Fred; seven grandchildren, Stephen, James, and Craig Payson, Jeffery, Jessica, Jacob and Julia Firth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burpee-Strong Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
A graveside service at Ocean View Cemetery, South Thomaston will be announced at a later date.
