Descendants of Swan's Island's Jeptha Benson

This summary has been derived from information in Dr. H. W. Small's 'History of Swan's Island' published in 1898.
Jeptha Benson, having served in the Revolutionary War, the war of 1812 and having lived at Deer Isle, came to Marshall's Island following the War of 1812. Since he leased the property on Marshall's Island, he was forced off by Swan's agent, Rufus B. Allyn in 1835. He then moved to Brooksville where he died in about 1855 at the age of 98 years.
