Gordon Fletcher Kenniston, son of Harold Moses Kenniston and Katherine Jewell, was born on 9 October 1912 in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. He died on 3 July 1981 at the age of 68 in Lamoine, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Lamoine: The body of a man who had gone out to tend a lobster trap was found washed up on the beach of the Lamoine State Park Friday afternoon. The body of Gordon F. Kenniston, 68, of Ellsworth, was found about 4:30 p.m. by a visitor to the park, who reported it to State Park Ranger John Petros.
Kenniston had gone out earlier in the afternoon in a 12 to 14 foot aluminum rowboat without a motor to tend to his lobster traps. The boat apparently capsized about 150 yards off shore.
Petros called the Hancock County Sheriff's Department at 4:31 p.m.
Sgt. Nathan Anderson of the Sheriff's department is investigating the death.
Amherst and Ellsworth: Gordon W. Kenniston, 68, died July 3, 1981, in Lamoine. He was born in Amherst, Oct. 9, 1912, the son of Harold and Katherine (Jewell) Kenniston. He was a mechanical supervisor for Lane Construction Co. for 38 years. Mr. Kenniston was a member of the Ellsworth Lions Club; minor Masonic Lodge No. 139 of Victor, N. Y.; the Scottish Rite Bodies and Cyprus Temple of Syracuse, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Edna (Dunham) Kenniston of Ellsworth and Amherst; one sister, Anne K. Wadwell of Augusta. Masonic services were held Sunday at the Jordan Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Amherst Cemetery, with the Rev. Reggie Couture officiating. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to a charity of their choice or the Amherst Congregational Church. He was buried in Tannery Loop cemetery, Amherst.
