She had an open door and open ear for anyone who arrived on her doorstep. Giving to others was a hallmark of her life. She gave freely and often to anyone in need and the many causes she supported, including Race for the Cure and St. Jude’s Hospital.
As a fantastic cook who passed on her talent in the kitchen to many of her children and grandchildren, Barbara enjoyed preparing big Sunday meals and holiday dinners for her family. She was also an avid sports fan, following her favorite teams from Deer Isle-Stonington to Boston, and taking great pride and interest in the sports and activities of her family.
Her many interests also included crocheting, knitting, word games, and keeping up with current events. She looked forward to her daily visits from her friend, Helen Pervear, as well as her regular visits from family and “the girls”(her friends from childhood, Helene Billings and Charlene Carter).
