SOUTH ADDISON - Kenneth W. Cirone, 68, passed away at his Cape Split home surrounded by his loving, caring family, Jan. 29, 2001. Ken was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Jonesport, to Charles E. Cirone and Susie (McPherson) Cirone. He grew up in South Addison and graduated from Addison High School in 1951. He married Dixie Anderson and they had two children, Timothy and Kim. Ken served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 as a sonarman then a signalman in the Caribbean during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Destroyers the USS Strickland and the USS Goodrich. He then returned to Maine and attended the Normal School (UMM) briefly before entering the Department of Marine Resources in 1957, as a coastal warden. He worked briefly on Vinalhaven before his assignment in the Pemaquid area for 17 years. Ken worked in Machias and Milbridge before retiring in 1977. He traveled to the western states of Colorado and Wyoming, returning to Maine in late 1977 to marry Nona Thompson of Cape Split. They drove out west several times, the most recent in June of 2000 to family reunions in Wyoming and Nebraska. Ken enjoyed going "birding", deer and moose hunting, fishing and lobstering around the Cirone's "Bar Island" off South Addison. His favorite pastime was sitting in his sunroom overlooking Eastern Harbor watching the ducks, Eagles and deer in his field. He was a member of the Masonic Order Lodge No. 106 of Addison, Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, participating in the Flag Unit, as well as a member of the Washington County Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, Nona Cirone; his father, Charles Cirone of South Addison; his son, Tim Cirone and fianc‚e, Cathy Kennedy of Cherryfield; his daughter, Kim Wallace and husband, Dale of Harrington; his stepchildren, whom he loved as his own, Robbi Smith and husband, Doug Smith Jr. of Gouldsboro, Adam Thompson and wife, Cheryl of Addison, Steven Thompson and wife, Laurie of Ellsworth, Todd Thompson and wife, Shari of Bucksport; brothers, Deane Cirone and wife, Carolee of South Addison, Eddie Cirone and wife, Donna of Milbridge; sisters, Mary Ellen Gaudette and husband, Philip of Centerville, Charlene Reynolds and husband, Douglas of South Addison, Claire Kennedy and husband, Walter of Harrington; father and mother-in-law, Vincent and Theda Langston of Wheatland, Wyo.; brothers-in-law, Donald Johnson and companion, Rose Dodd of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Lyn and Jan Johnson of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Joyce Lang of Pine, Colo., Charlene and Larry Cash of North Platte, Neb., Sharon and Hap Hatok of Santa Ana, Calif.; grandchildren, Tiffany Pinkham and Nicole Abbott of Harrington, Brad Cirone of Cherryfield, Melissa Cirone of Columbia Falls, Christopher and Derek Smith of Gouldsboro, Stephen and James Thompson of Ellsworth, Reanna Thompson of Fairfield, Cassaundra Thompson of Ellsworth, Todd Thompson Jr. of Issaquah, Wash. and Marissa Lynne Thompson of Bucksport; great-grandson, Kaleb Kenny of Columbia Falls. Ken was especially close to all his siblings and family; proud of the fact his grandfather, Frank Cirone had come directly from Italy. He has several aunts, uncles, many, many nieces and nephews and special friends, Scotty Parkman, Buddy Farren, Dan Thompson, Craig and Ernie Cirone and Mary Mullens and many more too numerous to mention. Ken was predeceased by his mother, Susie in 1997; a sister, Betty in 1937; and a brother, Michael in 1944. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Ken may make a contribution to the Children's Hospital, care of Sonny Crocker; Anah Shrine, P.O. There will be a celebration of Ken's life at the Union Church of South Addison, 1 p.m. Feb. 10, 2001
