Descendants of Swan's Island's Robert Mitchell

This summary has been derived from information in Dr. H. W. Small's 'History of Swan's Island' published in 1898.
Robert Mitchell came to Swan's Island on an immigrant ship from Dublin, Ireland, landing at Old Harbor. After the 360 odd passengers spent the night on the island all but Mr. Mitchell re-boarded and sailed for Portland. Mr. Mitchell worked for Moses Staples for 2 years eventually marrying Mr. Staples daughter, Judith. Mr. Mitchell bought land on Placentia Island and went there to live. He cut off the dense forest selling the timber and cleared the land for an excellent farm.
