Belfast: Mary L. Oxton Tinker, 68, died December 1, 1977 at a Portland hospital. She was born at Swan's Island, Me., July 30, 1909 the daughter of William and Harriet Martin. She was twice married, first to Elmer Oxton and second to James Tinker. She is survived by four sons, Richard Oxton of Northport, George Oxton of Camden, Herbert of Belmont, Lawrence Oxton of Biddeford; three daughters, Elizabeth Harvey of Union, Carleen of Stockton Springs, Nancy Grant of Saco; four sisters, Rose Staples and Evelyn Johnson, both of Swan's Island, Addie Burgess of Stonington, Bessie Scott of South Thomaston; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Rackliffe Funeral Home of Belfast. Burial will be in the Achorn Cemetery at Rockland. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home Saturday, 2-4 and 7-8. Friends who wish may make donations to the cancer fund, P.O. Box, 456 Brunswick, Me. 04011. She was buried in Achorn Cemetery, Rockland, Maine.

He was born in Swan's Island Nov. 26, 1909, the son of Raymond and Nettie (McKay) Tinker, and was employed at the Maine State Prison for the past 22 years as a prison guard.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roby Smith and Mrs. Marilyn Cane, both of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Elle Davis of Bar Harbor and Mrs. Zulma Higgins of Swan's Island; three brothers, Henry and Harvey of owls Head and Colon of Rockland; eight grandchildren; four step-sons, and three step-daughters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, Thomaston, with the Rev. Cleaves Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Achorn Cemtery in
Rockland. Jimmy was buried in Achorn Cemetery, Rockland, Maine. He was also known as James R. Tinker. Maine State Prison Guard.
